Parents: Verl and Betty Dotson
Two sisters: Reneé Waymire, CMHS '66 (John CMHS '64) and Val Milholland, CMHS '71 (Doug)
An adopted brother: Dan, CMHS '74 (deceased in 1996)
Father was a career military officer (Col, USAF) for 22 Years
Hew as the KRDO Meteorologist for 25 years.
Prior to CMHS, the family lived in Izmir, Turkey; Kwajalein, Marshall Islands; Truk Island; and Annapolis Maryland
Developed a proficiency in Turkish
Extremely small in stature in High School (under 5’ at graduation)
Attended Pueblo College—but missed friends in Colorado Springs
Graduated from Blair Business College with an executive secretarial degree equivalent to an Associate Degree (18 months)
Married Larry V. Poulson in 1967
Three children:
Craig (Jill) they have 5 children and 3 grandchildren
Krista Anderson/Sorenson (Jim) she has 2 children
Kent (Amber) they have 4 children
9 grandsons and two granddaughters
Husband worked for Marsh McClennan, a global professional services firm in insurance, risk management, reinsurance, talent management, investment, and management consulting.
Owned private consulting firm and is mentoring their son Kent.
Lived in Colorado Springs, Dayton, OH, Edmond, OK, Richardson, TX, and SLC, UT
Attend UTD in Dallas; husband transferred back to SLC to be Branch Manager
Member Junior League of Salt Lake City. Served at Director of Education and Training, Provisional Director, Delegate to National Conventions, and Chairman of 1984 National Figure Skating Championships. Sustaining member.
Served on the Board of Directors of the Utah Symphony. President of Utah Symphony Guild (1996), Centennial Ball Chairman, VP of Membership, etc.
In 1998 began a successful program at the University of Utah College of Nursing—Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program. Wrote grants, secured funds, and was the Program Administrator for 11 years before retirement to be with husband.
Husband went into part-time consulting three months later.

Love to travel, read and design baby quilts for my ever-growing family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews.

Long Bio

Upon graduating from CMHS, I started my post high school at Pueblo College and transferred to Blair College. I received an 24 month executive secretarial degree. I married a former Terror from Palmer High (Main High School). Larry had scholarship to play tennis for Colorado State University and graduate studies at the University of Colorado. We have now been married over 55 years! We have three children. Craig is a CFO, Krista is a in charge of her philanthropy organization and travels the world financially funding many organizations. Kent is an insurance broker. All live in Salt Lake City area. Between them we have nine grandsons (the oldest are all Eagle Scouts, and two granddaughters. The oldest grandsons are married. We have one grandson who finished medical school, second grandson finished a Masters degree in finance and preparing for his CPA. One granddaughter (by marriage) went to law school. Oldest granddaughter returned from an LDS mission and attended college, Next two grandsons both served as missionaries in California and Missouri.

I had the privilege of being able to raise my children full time, helping my husband developing his international career, and I attend the University of Texas! We have had ten homes in five states during the last 50 years. Among my accomplishments are leadership positions in The Salt Lake Junior League as Director of Education and Training, Provisional Director, Chairman of the National Figure Skating Championship prior to the Olympics in Sarajevo! I have developed two businesses and the Caring Connections: A Hope and Comfort in Grief Program at the University of Utah. It now has experienced its twenty years in business. I have served on more than twenty years on Community boards including the Utah Symphony Board of Directors. I served as President of the Utah Symphony Guild and Ballet West.

I feel that other than marring my fabulous husband and children that all received college degrees with out any student debt. We have eleven wonderful grandchildren and three great-grandchildren so far. It was my opportunity to serve on a national board of director for the League of American Orchestras in New York City. I am now taking water aerobics several times a week and playing bridge whenever I get a chance. Life is good. We traveled to Israel for ten days with our daughter and son-in-law in 2012 to experience Pass Over in the Holy Land.
